2024 US-Taiwan Business Council Delegation to Taiwan

January 22-24, 2024, President Rupert Hammond-Chambers, members of the Council’s Board of Directors, and a large delegation of U.S. company representatives will travel to Taiwan. Keith Krach – former U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment – will serve as the head of the delegation.

This delegation represents an important opportunity for U.S. industry to gain insights into Taiwan, specifically after the January 13, 2024 general election for President and parliament. The exact appointment schedule has yet to be determined, but we anticipate several high-level meetings during this visit. We will attempt to visit both the outgoing and incoming Taiwan Presidents during the trip.

Potential issues up for discussion during our appointments include:

• The results of the January 2024 presidential election and implications for Taiwan
• The status of U.S.-Taiwan bilateral political and business relations
• Taiwan’s trade and economic policy priorities under the new Administration
• Progress on the Initiative on 21th Century Trade and other bilateral trade talks, and next steps for the negotiations
• Economic development initiatives planned by the incoming Taiwan government
• Cross-strait trade and the future of Taiwan-China relations
• Taiwan’s defense and national security challenges
• We will also be raising issues of importance to those companies who join our trip

To make this visit possible, companies joining our high-level meetings are asked to support the trip with a delegation fee of US$4,000 for member companies and US$4,500 for non-members. Note that we are only able to accommodate one person per company to join the delegation.
