On May 16, 2022, the US-Taiwan Business Council co-hosted an event with the Center for East Asia Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution. The event was called “Taiwan’s economy during a time of global uncertainty.” The first panel, moderated by Brookings’ Senior Fellow Ryan Hass, discussed Taiwan’s economic prospects in the shadow of cross-Strait tensions. The following panel, moderated by President of the US-Taiwan Business Council Rupert Hammond-Chambers, discussed Taiwan’s globalized economy as companies move beyond cost and competitiveness when deciding where to deploy capital.
Video of the recording is included below. The Council thanks Brookings for their partnership on this event, and look forward to working together with Ryan and his team again soon.
